Skittles is an 8-year-old Grade draft cross red roan mare out of a Clydesdale mare and out of Paddy’s Irish Whisky bred quarter horse stud, who weighs in at 1250 lbs. There's not much this big, beautiful lady has not seen or done. As a 3-year-old she was used as a pickup horse for the Jr. NFR in Las Vegas, where she handled the lights, crowds and commotion like a seasoned pro. Any job on the ranch, she is your gal. Skittles pulls from the horn like a tank. She has pasture doctored, dragged calves to the fire, and worked the stock yards. She will not quit you and will handle the daily tasks with ease. You can switch gears and take her right from the ranch to a parade downtown, Ranch Rodeo, or Play Day. She is always up for the job and an easy willing partner. She is handy, good looking and can excel from the trail to all-around ranch horse. She can bridle up, lope proper circles, and knows her leads. She moves off your leg and body ques and has a light one-handed neck rein. She is so good minded that we use her to wrangle horses, and she has many hours in the feed lot. Skittles has seen more black cattle than the Almighty. If you’re looking for a reliable, easy on the eyes, trail partner who is sure to get you noticed in parades, on the trails or downtown, Skittles is the one you have been looking for. She will slow walk down the trail with loose rein, in a group or out alone. This mare will ride any direction you point her. Water, logs, steep trails, brush, or grass flats, Skittles will get you there with style and grace. To top it off she is super easy to handle. From standing quite for the farrier, at the wash rack, getting groomed and pampered, she saddles and bridles up with ease. If you can sit in the saddle and hold the bridle reins you can ride this classy mare. We can’t say enough good things about Skittles. She excels at all the different daily tasks from doctoring cattle, snubbing colts, sorting cattle. She’s great with gates and putting out salt with a pack string of mules. This gentle giant has been ridden by myself, all my boys, and friends of the family that have never ridden before. This mare is a doll.
