Bennett, Cathie

Although I grew up in the midwest, in 1993 I traveled to Cody, Wyoming for a quick trip. Realizing this is where I belonged, a short while later, I picked up and moved to Cody. I had met a very good trainer and started working with horses almost from the first day I arrived. I had always had a love for animals of all types, but horses held a special place within me. It was a natural thing to work horses in the round pen and saddle them for the first time. I have worked some very big ranches, given riding lessons to people of all ages and have worked hard to be a student of the horse. In 2011, I bought my first draft cross gelding and I was hooked on the big horses. For the past 14 years, I've been the director of the Home of Champions Rodeo flag team where I've helped many riders overcome confidence issues, horse misbehaviors and further advancing horses and riders in their riding careers. I was a member of the WPRA for several years and traveled to rodeos a little bit, but that wasn't where my heart was. I trained horses for many years as my profession. Now I just work with one or two horses a year, get them well broke and sell them to buyers who appreciate a good, broke horse.
