I am a rancher from Crowheart, WY and have been consigning horses at the Cody Horse Sale since 2013. When I was a young man, I decided that I wanted to build my life and make my living with horses - I can honestly say that I am lucky to be doing that very thing. In my world, horses are some of my most trusted coworkers - partners in business, even. Like any good partner and colleague, I teach and expect hard work, consistency, reliability, and grit. Where we work and live, the terrain and the weather can change quickly, and there are plenty of surprises - snakes, bears, and raging rivers and creeks. Despite these changes and surprises, both my horses and I know that the job always has to be done with little room for error along the way. This teaches my 'coworkers' how to handle adversity, long days under the saddle and on the hunt for cows, agility in the branding pen, responsiveness in the corrals, and, lastly, patience and focus when things get wild. I ride all year long in the upper and lower Wind River country of Wyoming, in the Big Horn Basin, and occasionally in Montana. While some of these rides are for pleasure, most are work-related - there is always a job to be done. Here at the Sorch Ranch, we don't sell horses if there's something wrong with them; we sell them if there's a lot right, though, and we sure do take pride in the kinds of horses we bring to this sale.
